my neopets


i've been playing neopets for over two decades!! like a lot of current players, i started as a young child. i have fond memories of pound surfing for poogles (when i finally got one, i loved it so much that i set its image as the family pc's wallpaper, tiled and ridiculous looking) and entering my login info into a blatantly scammy website that promised to award my account all of my wishlist items and a million np!! (oops) below are some of my beloved pets :)

DJ
DJ is an unconverted coconut jubjub who used to be owned by my late partner, Rexi. she wasn't gifted or traded to me by Rexi directly, but i ended up being offered her in a trading game on the pet trading forums, and i jumped at the opportunity since i had already wanted a coconut jubjub! i thought it was so cute to own a pet that she previously owned, and even one that had a beauty contest trophy earned by her. even before Rexi passed away, DJ was already a special pet to me that i knew would never leave my account.

DJ reminds me of gyroids, or the villager Coco, from animal crossing. her lil hollow face has a certain creepy-cuteness to it. i imagine that she's a sassy character, but also a silent one - and maybe one that plays completely mum and will let folks mistake her for a coconut if she doesn't feel like dealing with them. she has few friends that she keeps very close, and she's a loyal pal to the end. she spends her days on the beach between mystery island and the candy forest in the haunted woods, the pastel pink tides keeping her company when her friends at the chia family farm are busy with their work.

Ben Chia
Ben is a chia that i originally adopted from the pound! back then he was red, but i always intended to paint him spotted. i think spotted pets have a really cute charm to them that i've always admired. back when he was still red, Rexi drew his baby picture, which you can see below. she hated the color red, and even questioned why i adopted him, but as time passed she said that he grew on her (and the color did too!)


art by my late partner Rexi Ben is another pet that is very special to me, and will never leave my account. he plays the father figure to my baby chia, who is his grandson. Ben is a retired adventurer, and the overarching plot line my pets' stories follow revolves around the disappearance of his daughter, a chocolate chia, in the candy forest of the haunted woods. he travels away from chia family farms to investigate the vanishing of his daughter, and hopefully bring her home! he is a rugged, bold traveler who was said to be quite dashing in his youth, but those times have long since passed. now he only wishes to retire with his family in the newly-grounded faerieland, and while away his time reading, drinking tea, and smoking his pipe. he also has a fat angelpuss petpet (plumpy) named Marshmallow!

Minpri
once upon a time on reddit, a kind user was giving away their ffq dip to commenters on the post. i commented that my dream pet was a pea chia, and the OP actually had one that they had been trying to adopt out, and with an adorable name, too! it was through that very lucky happenstance and the user's kindness that Minpri came to live with me. like all of my precious chias, he will never leave my account. some day, i hope to get the suap avatar with his help! for now, he's slowly being trained up as an alternate battledome pet. go minpri go!!!


art by sparkledogcoreMinpri was adopted by the chias at chia family farm when he was found outside among their crops. he's actually not big on eating his vegetables, but he's huge on someday growing big and strong, so he can usually be convinced. Minpri is a tiny lil guy, who is nonverbal aside from some silly sounds - he can often be found dashing around the farm in his home-made cape and getting up to mild mischief.

Chubli
one of my oldest pets! i've had him since highschool, and i've found little stories i wrote about him in my drafts from over ten years ago. Chubli is a pet very dear to me by virtue of us having been through a lot together. i adopted him as a cloud skeith, and he was a lab rat for some time - during breaks, his notable forms included a mutant lenny, a tyrannian peophin, and a crosspainted royal-plushie grarrl. i always felt that hissi really suited him, though.


art by mewhen it came time to buckle down and really start training him, he eventually did become a hissi again with the help of Rexi. he has a cute snowickle petpet, and some day he's going to be the next snowager! as mentioned, he's my main battledome pet, and his HSD is creeping up towards 2,000 as we make our way through the secret ninja training school. i imagine him as a silent, mysterious bounty hunter who (for reasons known only to himself) protects the chia family farms in between his jobs down in the lower atmosphere. he seems out of place among the slow life of the farm chias...what a strange guy!

Prinxxe
Prinxxe is a pet that was given to me and created by my bf, Silas!! you can visit their website by clicking his button over in my affiliate sidebar to the left. ^_^ i've always wanted a cross painted royal girl/royal boy peophin, bc i think the rg base is so cute, but i wanted the rb eyes and some of the accessories - so when i got Prinxxe, and already knew that i wanted to do some gender shenanigans with them, he became the perfect candidate.


art by mePrinxxe was originally supposed to be partnered with a usuki boy/girl usul that i no longer own, and they were going to parent one of my baby pets - so then he became a single parent, but that pet got moved to a side account...so now he's just a guy! i'm still figuring out exactly where he fits in the overarching storyline that my pets inhabit, but i know that they are a spoiled and eccentric rich pet who, for some reason, has fallen upon hard times and relies on the charity of the chia family farms. they get put into a lot of silly situations revolving around things like them being a proper socialite who now has to clean up after farm petpets. :)

taurl
this is a pet that i actually don't have a character in mind for. taurl was a long trading journey that began with a pet that had a four letter name (significant because pet names on neopets have to be unique - so hers being short, pronouncable, and resembling a real word all made her very valuable). this pet was won in a trading game by Rexi, but then gifted to me to help me try to trade up. it was slow going until i came back to neopets from hiatus in 2023 and found that names had suddenly gained a lot of value! (this is due to the neopets team planning to release unconverted pets for neocash in early 2024, so names are gaining traction in trading circles.) it was bittersweet (and with a different 4L pet that i had eventually daisy-chained my way to with my original one, lol) to accomplish the goal after Rexi passed away, but i still love taurl very much and i'll always be grateful that she helped me bring him home.

Yokester & Scrampled
Yokester (left) and Scrampled (right) are a father/son duo who live on a side account of mine! they have no characters attached - i just think they're neat! some of the pets that live on my side accounts do not have any neo-lore, but i might find places for them all here eventually to show them off :)
there was a time when i wanted to have more parent/child pairings involved in my pets' stories, just because i always thought it was strange how few family units we see, considering all the baby pets! i still want to incorporate a theme of family in my pets' storylines, but there's less baby pets involved than there were previously. i still have all my lil guys, they just mostly live on side accounts for now.
